Whooo! The hunt is over! Ever since I (Jim) was laid off in March, we decided to take the photography thing full time, which definitely required that we find some space we could call a home base. After much hunting, we finally found the space (longmont and surrounding area is not cheap, and as such, it made it a bit harder to find). We had started to get a bit depressed when we finally stumbled upon this particular location. It’s definitely one of the more random locations, but we’re very excited and as of about 4pm today, the lease is signed!
We’ll now be located at 624 Main St in Longmont (Suite C, even though you really can’t outwardly tell that.) It’s shared space with Radio La Ley, the spanish radio station in town. Hehe, not precisely the predictable match, but they’ve been incredibly great to work with and are themselves a small business, so they really appreciate our objectives. As an added bonus, we’ll have 1700 sq ft of space to work with, which we thought was going to be nearly unheard of. The location includes a small retail front along with a great consultation and projection room followed by a large warehouse area that we’ll be converting in a studio bay. Though the warehouse space will be an ongoing project in TLC, it’ll be fantastic to have such a big chunk of space to do nearly anything with that we can imagine and we have big plans to turn it into a really excellent space.
No pictures yet, but we already have the paint, rollers and some stuff in the car ready to go for tomorrow and will hopefully get something posted tomorrow. At some point in the near future we’re anticipating having an open house and studio tour, so keep posted. We anticipate officially opening the doors in one month, but of course, will continue to be photographing on-site until then.
